ALFONS MUCHA  (July 24th, 1860 in Ivančice -  July 14th, 1939 in Prag) was one of the most outstanding representatives of 'Art Nouveau' (German 'Jugendstil').  After studying Art in Vienna first, then in Munich, Mucha moved to Paris for the world exhibition of 1889 where he carried out the design of the Pavillion of Bosnia-Herzegovina. In 1894 he met the famous Actress Sarah Bernhardt who helped him to the break-through. He designed for her plenty of works, beginning with posters for her shows. Over night he became one of the most important designers for ads posters of the Parisian Belle Époque. Mucha  became also a famous book-illustrator and designed many costumes, stage decorations, stamps, and even bank notes.

I heard of Mucha for the first time many years ago, thanks to tennis star Ivan Lendl speaking about his love to Mucha's works in an interview with a journalist while participating in the French Open. At first sight one notices the incredible talent of Mucha as a draughtsman, and I must concede that turning his paintings into anaglyphs is not a simple job, given the amount of details to deal with!

I am afraid, but given the huge catalog of Mucha's works, this page will remain in progress for quite a while!
